Thank God for the Law!

Thank God for the Law!

At some point, we all chose #ATreeAboutMe (tree of knowledge), we chose our own definition of “being a good person” according to what I believe over faith in God, His character and His words.  It was a choice for independence over relationship and trust in God.

The Law was the full manifestation of that choice. Father said, “You want to be righteous by your own standards and acceptable in your own eyes instead of simply trusting me? Then here is how you can be perfect, go for it.”

The Law was a gift that was given to lead us back to #ATreeAboutWe which is faith in Him, Jesus Christ!  (More Tree Talk … A Tale of Two Trees: Born to be Chosen) It was a gift to lead us back to relationship instead of measuring our selves by performance and comparison.  The Law asks and answers the question of “can I live my life in such a way that I never break relationship, harm or wrong anyone by making choices to benefit me over my connection with God and others?”   If we are honest, that answer is “no”.

Here is some good news for you from the book of Romans in the Bible … …..   … . .“A person is made right with God through faith, not through what he does to follow the law.” Romans‬ ‭3:28‬ ‭ICB‬‬

“People are made right with God by his grace, which is a free gift. They are made right with God by being made free from sin through Jesus Christ. God sent him to die in our place to take away our sins. We receive forgiveness through faith. And all of this is because of the blood of Jesus’ death. This showed that God always does what is right and fair.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭3:24-25‬ ‭ICB‬‬

The consequence of choosing the tree of knowledge was that we would die. Why?

That choice was the choice to be self-sufficient apart from God. We were created. Life was not possessed within ourselves. It was given to us. We do not possess life apart from Life Himself (John 14:6 “I am the Life”).  As soon we chose independence from the Life giver we chose death by default.  Our human DNA is tainted with the deadly infection of living apart from Life.

Why was Jesus blood necessary to be shed? Because He traded his perfect lifeblood and untainted DNA for ours.  When we put our faith and confidence in Him, it restores us to the Life Giver.

Where is your trust today?  Do you trust in your own actions and understanding to be right or is your trust in Christ?

The Law is a GPS guide back to “we” in stead of “me.”

Choose the one who chose you!  Put your trust in Him today to make you right and restored to the Life Giver.
